Texas AEYC to Host Early Childhood Day at Texas State Capitol
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 28, 2013
The Texas Association for the Education of Young Children (Texas AEYC) will join other early childhood advocates today at the Texas State Capitol for Early Childhood Day 2013. The 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. event will feature guest speakers from various early childhood organizations as well as remarks from Texas State Reps. Jimmie Don Aycock and Mark Strama starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Capitol Extension Auditorium E1.004.
Advancing its mission to provide professional growth opportunities for early childhood practitioners and improve support for children and their families, TEXAS AEYC is promoting two legislative priorities during the 83rd Texas Legislative Session:
1. Support Texas House Bill 660 (HB 660) that would provide scholarships, bonuses, and wage supplementation to early educators in Texas. Texas AEYC would like to secure $ 500,000 annually ($ 1,000,000 per biennium) to support the Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (T.E.A.C.H.) Project in Texas. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood
