SiyonaTech Supports the National Multi-Agency Child Protection Conference and Announces New Mobile App

(PRWEB UK) 30 January 2013

SiyonaTech, a performance technology provider, today announced that it is the primary sponsor of the National Multi-Agency Child Protection Conference that will take place at The Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire, on 28-29 January 2013. During the event, it will showcase a brand new mobile app designed to support the police to tackle child sexual exploitation. The mobile app is the latest feature in a wider integrated learning experience designed to help relevant agencies work better together.

We are committed to helping the police and other agencies improve their ways of working so that children can be better protected, said Sambit Mohapatra, Director for SiyonaTech Ltd. Last year we produced an awareness film with the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) about child sexual exploitation. The film featured a storyline from the BBC TV series EastEnders and was distributed widely in order to reach as many as possible. The app continues to build further awareness and puts the right information at the fingertips of frontline practitioners when and where they need it.

Available from http://www.cse.siyonatech.com and http://www.youtube.com/user/ceop the awareness film was designed to help police officers on the street to recognise the warning signs of child sexual exploitation so that they can take early action and protect children. This supports one of the key recommendations from the Deputy Childrens Commissioners Report published in November 2012. The 20 minute film uses a storyline to explore how children and young people can be made vulnerable to grooming and sexual abuse, highlighting the grooming and manipulation techniques used by abusers. The film was created in response to one of the recommendations made by the Out of Mind, Out of Sight report . The new mobile app builds on the awareness momentum and gives frontline practitioners detailed information about what to look for, what to do when they spot potential issues, and how to work together with other agencies to better protect children.

“All police forces around the country continue to work hard with strategic partners to protect the hundreds of children who are being sexually exploited every year,” said Terry Sharpe, Detective Superintendent, Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Investigation Command. “We are committed to raising awareness of the warning signs of child sexual exploitation. A mobile app can provide operational officers with the fast-time information they require that will assist them in making the best and most appropriate decisions for the child. Most officers have their mobile phones with them at all times and this type of app will give them access to information and resources whenever and wherever they need it”.

The National Multi-Agency Child Protection conference aims at bringing together practitioners who work in the area of child protection and provide them with an opportunity to share their learning. It attracts participants such as strategic leaders, managers and frontline practitioners from a variety of public and non-public agencies that work in this complex field of investigation.
